LAS VEGAS (AP) — One person was killed and seven others were injured Wednesday when a Tesla truck caught fire and exploded outside President-elect Donald Trump’s hotel in Las Vegas, authorities said.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police and Clark County Fire officials said at a press conference that a person was killed in the vehicle and that they were working to recover the body.

Seven other people who were nearby suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.

A county spokeswoman said the fire in the valet area of ​​the Trump International Las Vegas hotel was reported at 8:40 a.m.

No reason was given, and details were sketchy.

“I know you have a lot of questions,” Jeremy Schwartz, acting special agent in charge of the FBI’s Las Vegas office, said at a news conference. “We don’t have many answers.”

Eric Trump, the president-elect’s son and executive vice president of the Trump Organization, wrote about the fire on social media platform X. He praised the fire department and local law enforcement “for their quick response and professionalism.”

This 64-story hotel is located near the famous Las Vegas Strip and across the street from the Fashion Show Las Vegas.
