Discarded fireworks ignite the flames at the Sand Dune Cafe in Jensen Beach

JENSEN BEACH, FL. Part of a popular Martin County waterfront restaurant caught fire early Wednesday morning due to discarded fireworks, authorities said.

Martin County Fire and Rescue said crews responded to the Sand Dune Cafe, located in the 4100 block of Northeast Ocean Boulevard, just after 3:30 a.m.

Investigators believe the fire started in a garbage can after fireworks were thrown there, and the flames then spread to the embankment, tearing a large hole in the wooden planks.
