HARRIS. Slow starts plagued Bark River Harris volleyball as it fell to No. 1 Forest Park 25-18, 25-18, 25-10 in Skyline Central Conference play on Monday.

The Broncos trailed 6-0 to start the first and third sets.

“Forest Park is a very aggressive serving team” Broncos coach Brook Anderson said. “They kept us on our toes and we fell behind early, but I was proud of our girls the way they fought back.”

The Broncos trailed 17-3 in the first set, but rallied to score 10 of the next 11 points to cut the deficit to 18-13.

The Trojans scored the next three points to extend the lead to 21-13, but the Broncos continued to fight back, scoring four of the next five points to cut the deficit to 22-17.

The Trojans closed out the first set by scoring three of the last four points to secure the win.

The Broncos fell behind 6-0 again in the third set and were unable to close the gap as Forest Park ran away with the set.

The Broncos were led by Emma Zavada with six kills and three aces.

“Emma did a good job of getting us back in the first set.” – said Anderson.

Senior Nadia Varoni had four kills and two aces.

The Broncos will host Gwynn in a district contest on Monday.
