Green Tribunal seeks action on unauthorized dumping sites in Delhi

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has ordered the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) to look into allegations of an illegal dhalao, or waste collection point, in the capital.

The tribunal was alerted by a petition from a local social group, which alleged that an unauthorized structure had been built in the green area of ​​a park located in Hari Nagar, south-west Delhi.

On December 23, a bench headed by NGT chairman Prakash Srivastava sought verification of the allegations, stressing the need for immediate remedial action due to the health risks posed by spillage of solid waste on nearby roads. The MCD has been directed to submit a report within three months.
