Kanguva editor Nishad Yusuf found dead at his residence in Kochi; a police investigation is underway

Renowned film director Nishad Yusuf died at the age of 43 on Wednesday, October 20. According to a report in India Today, the remains were discovered at his house in Panampilli Nagar in Kochi around 2 am. Police officers arrived at his apartment to conduct a thorough investigation and determine the cause of death.

Directors union Kerala Film Workers Federation (FEFKA) confirmed Nishadh’s untimely death on their social media. They wrote on Facebook: “Noted film director Nishadh Yusuf (43) passed away. He was found dead in a flat in Panampalli Nagar, Kochi this morning. He was a native of Haripad. In 2022, he won the state award for the best operator. for the editing of the film Talumala”.

FEFKA also mourned his death and praised his contribution to Malayalam cinema. “The film world could not bear the sudden death of Nishadh Yusuf, a film editor who played an important role in defining the modern outlook on the changing Malayalam cinema,” the post continued.

Nishad Yusuf was a famous editor in the Indian film industry. He has worked on several famous films including Thallumaala, Unda, One, Saudi Vellakka and Adios Amigos. Last year, he signed his biggest project yet, a pan-Indian film Kanguwastarring Suriya, Bobby Deol and Disha Patani, which will hit the big screens on November 14.

According to the FEFKA report, Nishadh had several other projects. It was a montage of the upcoming film “Bazooka”, which featured Mammootty and it also had the Alappuzha Gymkhana in its fold. According to some reports, he also handled the editing of Mohanlal starrer L360.

Now the editor of Kanguva is survived by a daughter, a son and a wife.
