BFU checks bank account details of 28 journalists

The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU), the central bank’s financial intelligence agency, subpoenaed the bank details of 28 journalists.

The BFIU has sent letters to various banks in the country asking for information about them, sources familiar with the matter said yesterday (October 29).

After receiving the letter from the Ministry of Statistics, BFIU turned to the banks and asked them to provide all bank details of the journalists.

The information sought is whether there are bank lockers, savings cards, credit cards and other financial instruments in their name, whether cash transactions have been made or not.
