Northwest Iowa janitor pleads guilty after being accused of stealing 0,000 worth of jewelry and coins

STORM LAKE, Iowa (KTIV) – A northwest Iowa woman has pleaded guilty after she reportedly stole $100,000 in jewelry and coins from an elderly man.

Court documents show Shari Bents, 42, pleaded guilty to battery on a dependent adult, a Class D felony.

As reported, Benz stole jewelry and coins three times and spent money on the purchase of vehicles.

Bents admitted to stealing property with an estimated value of $100,000 between September 1, 2024 and October 24, 2024.

Benz’s sentencing is scheduled for February 2025. The maximum sentence for a Class D felony is five years.
