Army spokesman Lt. Gen. Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry made the allegations at a year-end press conference, but did not provide details to substantiate the allegations.

The spokesman said security forces killed at least 925 terrorists in 2024 and lost 383 of their own soldiers in nearly 60,000 operations.

Pakistan’s armed forces are fighting insurgents mainly in the provinces of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The general alleged that India committed 25 LoC violations and also conducted several “false flag operations”.

This term usually refers to bogus military actions to make the blame fall on the other side.

The spokesman claimed that such operations were always announced through fake social media accounts linked to RAW, India’s foreign intelligence agency.

“The Pakistan Army has the capability to give a decisive response to any Indian hostility,” he said.

“Indian forces are using brutal tactics to suppress independence movements,” he claimed, apparently referring mainly to Jammu and Kashmir.

India has repeatedly accused Pakistan of fueling terrorism in the area.

A Pakistani army spokesman also accused the Indian government of targeting minorities, including Sikhs, both within its borders and abroad.

Chaudhry said the number of terrorists killed by the country’s security forces in 2024 was the highest in five years.

According to him, about 170 operations are carried out every day, which helped thwart several terrorist attacks. According to him, a huge cache of arms and weapons was also seized during these operations.

Chaudhry said 73 “high-value targets” were also killed, including 27 Afghan nationals, and another 14 high-profile terrorists surrendered to authorities.

The spokesman accused the Afghan Taliban regime of patronizing militants, especially those belonging to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan.

He called on the Afghan authorities to solve this problem by denying the insurgents the use of their land.

“Afghan land is used by TTP terrorists. The perpetrators of terrorist attacks in Pakistan are heading to terrorist hideouts in Afghanistan,” he said.

Chowdhury said a single document regime has been introduced for those crossing the border from Afghanistan and the number of illegal border crossings has decreased.

According to him, the action against illegal Afghans is ongoing and so far 8,15,000 of them have been deported since September 2023.

Chaudhry also said that negotiations with Afghanistan are being conducted on a bilateral basis and also through “international friends”.

He indirectly blamed jailed former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Imran Khan for the latest wave of militancy.

“We are paying the price for the policy of negotiation with the rebels and resettlement,” he said.
