A body is found in the woods of the West End, and the investigation into Henrico’s murder continues

HENRICO COUNTY, VA. A homicide investigation is underway in Henrico after a man was found dead in West End woods.

According to Henrico Police, Cecil Lee Ryan Jr., 58, of Henrico, was found dead on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2024, at approximately 3:33 p.m. near the 9100 block of Staples Mill Road near Wengery Springs Road.

“The preliminary investigation indicates that Mr. Ryan was homeless and living in the woods,” a Henrico police spokesman said.

No additional information has been released.

“Because it’s such a quiet neighborhood, it’s crazy to hear about it, especially when there’s a murder in the woods on Halloween,” said Evan, a man who lives near the crime scene. “There’s a couple of walkways going in and out, some trash, beer cans and stuff like that, but I’ve never seen anyone go in and out of there.”
