A complaint has been filed against BJP leader Parvesh Verma for distributing cash to voters

A criminal case has been filed against Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former West Delhi MP Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma for allegedly distributing cash to influence voters in the upcoming elections in the national capital.

A complaint filed against the former MP in New Delhi’s Barahamba police station alleged that he offered bribes to voters to influence voters ahead of the Delhi assembly elections.

It further alleged that the BJP leader’s action “degrades” the political environment and “endangers” the level playing field.

The complaint filed against Verma stated: “Member of Parliament, Bharatiya Janta Party and other unknown persons for committing the offenses of bribery with mala fide intent to give gratification for the purpose of inducement with a view to the exercise of electoral rights and obtaining undue influence by making a false document with intent to believe in it as a genuine document with the intention of proving the claim by inducing the general public to Section 170, 318, 335, 336 and 340 Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, 2023.”

The Complaint further states: “The Complainant prefers this Complaint on the basis of media reports against the above-named accused person for the offenses of offering gratification for the purpose of inducement with a view to the exercise of suffrage and obtaining undue influence by producing a false document with the intention of believing it as a genuine document, offering cash as a reward, not only degrading the political environment and putting under endangers a level playing field but also contravenes the mandate of the law by using false and fabricated documents created with nefarious intent to gratify and gain undue benefit with intent to support a claim that endangers the democratic and social fabric of our society in collusion with other accused persons and in advance planned way”.
