Man files million lawsuit against Michigan State Police over alleged drug conspiracy

An alleged drug conspiracy has led to a man filing a $10 million lawsuit against the Michigan State Police (MSP).

The man, Dakarai Larriette, accused two MSP troopers of violating his rights and conspiring to plant drugs on him during a traffic stop in Benton Harbor on April 10.

“For a black person in that situation, you say the wrong thing and you’re dead,” Larriette told FOX 2.

He said the footage showed police conspiring to plant drugs on the night of his stop.

Larriette said the trooper accused him of smelling something fruity and then gave him a 30-minute field sobriety test, even though he said he was sober. He was then immediately taken to a medical clinic, where he said he tested negative for alcohol, but was still taken to jail.

Larriette said that during his arrest, police went further, claiming he was carrying a bag of drugs.

“It’s like a bag of drugs, confess now or you’ll be charged with human trafficking as well,” Larriette said of the police. “And they kept scanning my body.”

Larriette said he had to go to the bathroom in public to prove it.

“I’ve never even been arrested,” he said. “I have been a Whirlpool case manager for three years from Benton Harbor. I know nothing about this world. I’ve never even been in prison before. I was stunned all night. “

When he was released from custody, the DUI charges were dropped. A few months later, Larriette discovered footage of an alleged drug plot and an alleged social media page for one of the MSP troopers.

“He is a homophobe, he is a transphobe. He’s a racist. He’s a misogynist,” Larriette said. “I don’t know why this person is in the police force.”

As of October 29, both MSP troopers are still on the job.
