Arrested in shooting outside Pop Warner football game

COLORADO SPRINGS — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) has arrested a man in connection with an alleged homicide that occurred in early October.

News5 first reported the incident on Saturday, Oct. 5, when CSPD units were dispatched to the 1600 block of S. Murray Boulevard after reports of a shooting.

After an argument in the parking lot, one of the perpetrators pulled out a gun and shot the other. The victim, later identified as 29-year-old Donte Maurice Rice, died from his injuries.

On Thursday, Oct. 10, an arrest warrant was issued for 31-year-old Antivius Crowder on a charge of first-degree murder. On Friday, October 25, he was taken into custody.

Currently, the authorities continue to actively investigate the situation. They urge anyone with information to call CSPD at (719)444-4000 or the Crime Stoppers Tip Line at (719)634-7867 to remain anonymous.

Shortly after this article was published, News5 obtained testimony about Antivius Crowder’s arrest.

Crowder and the victim, Donte Maurice Rice, were previously co-defendants in a series of commercial burglaries in 2014 and 2015. Some anonymous reports even claimed that the two men were “close friends” until they fell out, resulting in a fight.

CSPD obtained surveillance video from Atlas Preparatory Charter School that placed Rice and Crowder at the scene, according to the affidavit.
