A challenge at an elementary school results in a temporary lockdown

KANSAS CITY, MO. Police said an elementary school in Overland Park was placed on lockdown Tuesday due to a disturbance call.

Sunrise Point Elementary School, which is part of the Blue Valley School District, was placed on lockdown at approximately 9:30 a.m.

A police official said officers searched the school, located at 15800 Roe Avenue, as a precaution.

The block was lifted after about an hour.
