Hundreds of unauthorized purchases led to the indictment of the former city clerk

POLO, Mo. (KCTV) – A former Polo city employee has been charged after she allegedly spent hundreds of dollars on unauthorized purchases using a city credit card.

Circuit Court of Caldwell County, Missouri records show that on Thursday, December 19, 27-year-old Distani J. Allison, of Excelsior Springs, was charged with theft from her former employer, the City of Polo.

Probable cause statement filed Missouri State Highway Patrol showed that from August 21, 2023 to December 1, 2023, Ellison worked as a clerk in the city of Polo. While there, she allegedly made several purchases on Amazon for personal items using the city’s Sam’s Club credit card.

Investigators noted Ellison also purchased hunting licenses and safety courses, car insurance and a website domain subscription with a monthly business plan. She also allegedly renewed her vehicle registration with a city card.

P, Mo. (KCTV) – said Ellison’s unauthorized purchases cost the city of Polo at least $750. As of Saturday, December 21, a warrant for her arrest had not been issued. The court hearing is scheduled for January 15.
