Ruth – who during this difficult time was supported by her friends, including “the best at work” Rylan Clark and Vanessa Feltz – plans to celebrate the upcoming divorce with a big party with friends.

“After receiving the receipt that she is a single woman, she is going to throw a party,” says the source. “Ruth looks amazing and is accepting lots of job offers.”

Ruth’s appearance on Unpacked reportedly left Eamonn, 65, “seething and offended”. He and his new girlfriend, Katie Alexander, 43, made their red carpet debut as a couple at the star-studded industry event while his ex was in Australia, in what some saw as a very deliberate move. On her return, Ruth broke her silence on her divorce drama, hinting that her split from her husband Eamonn is not going “well”.

During a Loose Women discussion about the divorce, Ruth, 64, made a rare and brief comment about her personal life while chatting with Colin Nolan, Mariella Frostrap and Kelly Holmes. When Mariella said, “That’s a whole other topic, isn’t it?” The right way to divorce,’ answered Ruth, ‘oh, tell me about it.’ When her colleagues showed their surprise, she quickly cut the ad.

Earlier in the show, the host talked about divorced parents forcing their children to choose sides – which could be seen as a dig at Eamon, with whom she has a 22-year-old son, Jack. Ruth’s latest comments suggest something else is going on behind the scenes of their ‘bitter’ split, as sources reveal she is looking forward to a fresh start in 2025.

“Ruth has had a tumultuous year. She had a great time in Australia, but personally it was very, very difficult and sad,” says the insider. “Ruth will be celebrating this Christmas with people who really love her – she won’t miss him. She will make a toast to a bitter divorce and an exciting New Year’s dawn of prospects and to being “free”.

Once considered one of TV’s most enduring couples, Ruth and Eamonn shocked the nation in May when they announced the end of their 27-year relationship and 14-year marriage. Although she continues to wear her engagement ring as a sign of respect, insiders reveal that the ongoing drama – especially with Eamonn going so public with his new romance – has taken a toll on her.

“Ruth is tired of the divorce process and just wants it to be over. She is mentally exhausted. She can’t help but feel that these 14 years have been wasted, and the man she was married to is no longer there,” says the source. “Ruth says ending a 14-year marriage is soul-destroying. She no longer recognizes Eamon.’

The insider adds that Ruth doesn’t like the “narrative that Eamonn is spinning.” “He’s making a fool of himself,” they add. “She is ashamed of it.”

“Now they communicate only through lawyers. There’s a lot of bickering between the pair behind the scenes, but Ruth lets her lawyer handle it all. There is hope that they can be friends for Jack’s sake, but things are very difficult at the moment and they are taking time out from each other until they finalize their divorce.’
