  • Google is adding a new AI-powered “Polish” tool to Gmail on Android and the web.
  • The tool helps users refine emails that contain 12 or more words.
  • Google’s HelpMe Write tool also extends to Gmail on the web.

Google expands “Help me write» Gmail shortcut on the web and introduced a new “Polish” shortcut for both web and mobile platforms.

Starting today, Help Me Write, Google’s AI-powered writing tool designed to help users create emails or documents more efficiently, will appear directly in the body of an email when the draft is empty, making it easier for users to create emails from scratch with the help of AI.

The Polish tool, meanwhile, is for Gmail drafts that contain 12 or more words. As the name suggests, it allows users to automatically improve their emails with better offers generated by artificial intelligence.

Gmail users on the web can access the Polish shortcut by clicking on the text or pressing “Ctrl+H”. The feature is also rolling out to the Gmail app for Android, and mobile users can swipe the shortcut (see above) to view enhanced drafts of their emails. Users will also have quick options like Draft, Refine, and Shorten to edit a draft email on the spot.

Accessibility

Google says that both Help Me Write and Polish will be pre-enabled for Google Workspace customers with Gemini Business and Enterprise add-ons, Gemini Education apps, and Google One AI Premium subscriptions. Deployment began on October 28, 2024. Full availability may take up to 15 days.
