Police are investigating arson following fires in Oswestry and Telford

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service (SRFS) were called at 12.10am to reports of an incident on Wats Drive in border town.

One fire crew was dispatched to the scene from Oswestry Fire Station West Mercia Police also visited

The SRFS incident log said one car was 50 percent involved in the fire, and crews used two hose jets to extinguish the fire while wearing breathing apparatus.

A car fire is also “considered arson.”

A statement from West Mercia Police said: “We were called to Wats Drive in Oswestry at around 12.15am this morning to reports of a car fire. The incident is being treated as arson and the investigation is ongoing.”

The incident ended at 1.40 am.

Meanwhile, the fire service received a call at 4.33am to reports of a car fire on West Avenue in Telford.

One fire brigade was sent to Telford Central fire department at the scene. The police also arrived.

Firefighters used a single water jet hose and breathing apparatus to extinguish the car, which was 50 percent destroyed by the fire.

The incident ended at 5:07 am.
