Two teens killed, four injured in shooting at impromptu club in Houston

HOUSTON (AP) — Two teenagers were killed and four others were injured, including a 13-year-old girl, in a shooting at a makeshift club in Houston, police said Sunday.

Officers who arrived at the scene of the shooting late Saturday night found “a very chaotic scene — a large crowd of people running out of a makeshift club,” Assistant Chief Luis Menendez-Sierra said at a news conference.

Police have not yet identified the suspect and asked anyone who was at the scene to report any information to police. Police said some witnesses told detectives they saw a man dressed in all black, including a hooded sweatshirt and a black mask covering his face, firing a gun into a crowd of people at the scene.

A 16-year-old boy died at the scene and a 14-year-old girl died at a hospital, police said. Their identities are pending forensic examination.

Four victims, all women, were hospitalized. The victim, a 13-year-old, was in critical condition, while an 18-year-old was in serious condition and a 17-year-old and a 19-year-old were in stable condition, police said.

Menendez-Sierra said most of the attendees at the event, which appeared to be staged on social media, were minors. Like, they gathered in an empty case.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said in a post on X that “improvised, unauthorized pop-up parties can quickly turn into chaos and violence.”

“Pop-up parties are a public safety concern and teenagers should stay away for their own safety,” he said.
