Jazz Taylor Hendrix suffered a horrific leg injury

Jazz forward Taylor Hendricks suffered a fractured right fibula and a sprained ankle during a horrific scene Monday night that saw him carried off the floor on a stretcher.

The former first-round pick tried to slow down while running the floor during the third quarter against the Mavericks, but then slipped, his right leg caught underneath him.

When Hendricks swung his leg, the bottom of his leg appeared to point to the right in an unnatural position.

The 20-year-old rushed forward, and then put his hands on his head, as if realizing that something terrible had happened.

Some people attended to Hendricks as he sat on the floor, and some of his teammates came to check on him before he was loaded onto a stretcher.

He was later ruled out for the rest of the contest, and the Jazz tweeted after the contest that more details would be provided as needed.

Hendricks exited the game and the Jazz (0-3) trailed by five in their eventual 110-102 loss.

He had two points and three rebounds in 21 minutes, going 0-for-5 and missing three three-pointers.

Utah drafted Hendricks with the ninth overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft out of UCF after a successful freshman season in which he averaged 15.1 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.7 blocks.

Last season, Hendricks averaged 7.3 points and 4.6 rebounds in a rookie season that spanned 40 games (23 starts) and started all three games for the Jazz this year.

Utah exercised its third-year rookie option for the 2025-26 season last week.

The Jazz host the Kings on Thursday in Game 2 of a back-to-back in search of their first win.
