A girl was indecently beaten in Oakland Park, the search for the perpetrator continues

Police are searching for a man who indecently assaulted a young girl in a South Auckland park last week.

A man approached a child who was playing in Aronia Park around 8:00 p.m. on Friday and offered to take her home.

Police say he then indecently assaulted her in a nearby bush.

The man fled the scene after she screamed for help, prompting a neighbor to call the police.

The police could not find the man, so they turned to citizens for help.

Several people were in the park at the time, and the police are urging them to come forward.

Any CCTV footage is also being sought and any residents of Aronia Way, Everglade Drive, Kerri Anne Place and Correa Court who may have it are asked to contact police.

Anyone driving in the area between 6pm and 8pm who has dashcam footage is also urged to contact police.

The girl was cared for by relatives and supported by the police.
