Hotel guest arrested after repeated harassment, possession of drugs Guam news

A guest who allegedly threatened and harassed a front desk employee was arrested early Wednesday morning after a series of incidents at a Tumon hotel.

According to a magistrate complaint filed in the Superior Court of Guam, Gregory McKinley Thompson, 55, was arrested by Guam Police Department officers around 12:25 a.m. on Dec. 11 after a disturbing altercation with a hotel front desk clerk.

According to the complaint, this was not the first time the worker felt threatened by Thompson.

The incidents began on December 6 when Thompson allegedly became aggressive after hailing a taxi. The front desk clerk said Thompson asked her to call a cab. When he lost his temper, he jumped over the table, grabbed her phone and threw it across the room, yelling, “I told you to call a cab!” The frightened worker said nothing more until Thompson eventually drove off in a cab she had called for him, the complaint states.

During a subsequent incident on Dec. 11, Thompson’s behavior escalated, according to the complaint. The employee reported that he walked up to the front desk and hit the microwave, making a loud noise. Thompson reportedly pointed at the employee, yelling obscenities and threatening her.

The worker, who had previously been so afraid of Thompson that she locked herself in a utility room during his previous visits, asked him to leave her alone. Thompson continued to verbally abuse her, repeating the same profanity, the complaint said.

After his arrest, police found in Thompson’s pocket a clear plastic bag containing two broken glass tubes containing a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine.

Thompson was charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance as a third-degree felony, assault as a misdemeanor and two counts of stalking as a misdemeanor.
