There are many ways in which each of the big players tries to distinguish themselves in the race to be the first the best streaming service on the planet, and Netflix just proved that it’s on the ball with a new feature. A great new feature has been announced and should be available to all users now – Moments.

This new button on the streaming service’s mobile app makes it easy to share not just an entire show with someone, but actually lets you share a specific moment you’ve just been enjoying watching. As Netflix revealed, this could mean a long-awaited kiss Bridgertonor dramatic showdowns in Other people’s thingsor any number of other points.

You’ll be able to tap the Moments button at the bottom left of the timeline while watching Netflix and then save the scene you’re watching to your list of previously saved moments. All of this can be easily shared via any social platform.

However, Netflix hasn’t specified exactly what will happen when someone gets a Moment — we’re assuming they’ll be able to watch the scene in question, though that will no doubt depend on whether they have a Netflix account and their own subscription. Given Netflix’s approach to account sharing in recent years, this seems like a no-brainer.

Once you’ve saved a scene, if you then watch a movie or episode, it will obviously by default also start directly from that scene, as if you’d bookmarked it. In the meantime, this list of Moments will be stored in the My Netflix tab in your app, where you can access it whenever you want.

It sounds like a nice little tool that makes it easy to share viral moments or memorable scenes, and apparently it’s already available worldwide for iOS users. Netflix says the feature will be coming to Android “in the coming weeks,” but for now it sounds like a phone-only feature.

So, if you’ve always wanted an easier way to send great moments, this seems like a great little addition. The other question, of course, is whether this will change the way most people watch Netflix on their phones.
