Use Wordle’s built-in sharing feature to share your results without messing up your answer!

Wordle has a built-in way to share your results without spoilers, so those you send it to won’t see today’s Wordle itself, just the colors in your grid to show how well you did.

To share your Wordle results, simply complete (or play) today’s Wordle, then wait a while for the statistics bar to appear on the screen. Then click the SHARE button.

On a computer, it simply copies the text to the clipboard, so you can paste the text anywhere, whether it’s a private message or a social media status update. On iPhone or Android, by pressing the SHARE button, you can copy the results to the clipboard or share the results directly to another app on your phone (such as WhatsApp or Twitter).

Using Wordle’s built-in sharing feature is a much better way to share your results than to potentially spoil an answer for someone who hasn’t had a chance to play today’s Wordle themselves. Therefore, we strongly recommend you to use it!

How to play Wordle

Wordle is extremely simple. The goal is to guess the correct five-letter word within six guesses. After each guess, the letters of your chosen word are highlighted in green if they are in the right place, yellow if they are in the wrong place, or gray if they are not in the word at all.

Using these hints, you can begin to narrow down the correct word. Go to Wordle site to try for yourself!

How did Wordle start?

Wordle started as a small family game created by software engineer Josh Wordle. He created the game to play a fun little word game with his partner during the pandemic, and they quickly realized there was something special about this simple guessing game. So after a few tweaks, Wardle released it to the public on his website, Power speech.

The game was released in October 2021, and by the end of the year, the game had two million daily players. It became a viral hit, thanks in large part to the ease with which players could share their results without spoilers on Twitter and other social media. In January 2022, Wordle accepted an offer from the New York Times to acquire Wordle for a seven-figure sum. Well done Mr. Wardle. Really well done.

You you can type any words you want, but keep in mind that the real answer will never be a rude word.

Are Wordle words banned?

You can type almost any five-letter word in the English language and Wordle will take it as a guess. However, the answer is chosen each day from a much smaller list of more common five-letter words. Of course, there are thousands of possible answers, but that means the answer will never be an obscure word like, say, “THIOL,” or “CAIRD,” or “MALIC” (yes, those are all real words).

There are occasional words that the New York Times chooses not to publish as a daily Wordle answer, perhaps for reasons related to breaking news or politics. For example, shortly after the news broke that Roe v. Wade might be overturned in the United States, the NYT decided to change the word on March 30 from “FETUS” to “SHINE” because the word “fetus” was considered too political . charged the word in the context of recent events.

The New York Times has also been careful never to allow what it considers rude words as an answer to a Wordle puzzle. But, of course, there is nothing to stop you from using even the dirtiest words as guesses, as long as they are common words in the dictionary, and as long as you understand that they will never be the answer.

Is Wordle getting too easy for you?

If Wordle starts to get too easy, there are a few ways to make the game more challenging for yourself. The first choice is to enable hard mode. You can do this on the Wordle site by clicking the gear icon in the top right corner of the screen. Hard mode means that any highlighted letters should to be used in all future assumptions. This prevents you from using the usual tactic of choosing two words like “OUNCE” and “PAIN” to test all five vowels in the early stages.

You can take it to the next level by playing with what we call “hard” rules. This means that every guess you enter should potentially be the answer. If you were just playing on hard mode and you typed “MOIST” and the “O” came up in yellow, then there’s nothing stopping you from making “POLAR” the next word, even though it can’t be the answer because you already know that the letter “O” is in the wrong place. If you play with the “hard” rules, it is not allowed. You have to follow each clue and make sure that every word you type is potentially an answer.

If in the end this Wordle is still too simple for you, you can always try one of the many other Wordle-inspired online games that have appeared over the past year. One of our favorites Worldlein which you have to guess the country of the world by its shape. There is also Wafflewhere it refers to replacing the letters in the completed grid to complete all the words; Moviedlewhich shows you an entire movie in a tiny amount of time and makes you guess the movie in six guesses; and Quardlewhich asks you to solve four Wordles at once with the same guesses.
