The takeover of a Seattle street near the Space Needle led to a firework attack on police

SEATTLESeattle police responded to two separate incidents capture of the street events this weekend, one at the Space Needle and one nearby T-Mobile Park in Seattle.

in video obtained by FOX 13 Seattle, you can see illegal riders shooting fireworks at responding police.

The first incident happened on Friday evening around 22:18

According to authorities, police were called to observe the street takeover near First Avenue and South Atlantic Street, which is right in front of T-Mobile Park.

Police say a large crowd formed, with some trying to incite them to surround the patrol cars.

Backup was called and police ordered the crowd to disperse.

Authorities said the crowd had moved, and when police went to stop the vehicles taking over the street, they sped off and “appeared to be out of town.”

Seattle police say a similar street grab was reported in Kent shortly after the incident, followed by another in Auburn.

On Sunday morning, Seattle police responded to another illegal seizure. It happened just a few blocks from the Space Needle, blocking the intersection of Clay Street and Third Avenue.

SPD said illegal riders were using public Lime scooters as a means of barricading the road. In the video we obtained of the incident, you can see two different instances of someone throwing fireworks at the police. The video shows that the explosions are a few meters away from the officers.

SPD also said one person jumped on the hood of their patrol car but ran into the crowd.

SPD said it did not intervene because of the size and hostility of the crowd and because 911 callers were only reporting traffic crimes.

Tukwila police also responded to the overnight chaos caused by illegal riders.

According to TPD, the illegal racers also shot fireworks at officers and flashed lasers.

In a statement on Facebook, Tukwila police appealed to illegal riders:

“We would like to thank those who not only videotaped themselves committing these acts, but also posted said video on social media for us. This makes it much easier for us to pursue criminal charges and traffic violations.”

No agency has reported any arrests.
