Looking for family for 2 males and 2 females who recently died in the Birmingham area

Authorities are asking for the public’s help in locating relatives of four people who died recently in Jefferson County.

Their bodies are ready to be released for burial, but the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has been unable to locate and notify their next of kin.

Leslie James, 68, Patricia Ann Garrett Bailey, 68, Jacqueline Golden, 73, and Richard Stanley Skinner Sr., 74, were killed.

James was found dead Nov. 22 in the 400 block of University Boulevard in Birmingham.

Authorities said James, who they described as homeless, was discovered by employees on the business’ property. He is believed to have used the business as a temporary shelter for the night.

The cause of death is under investigation, but there is no evidence of trauma or foul play.

James listed past addresses in Gadsden and Birmingham, but is believed to be from Birmingham, where he lived for several years. There were no family or emergency contacts in several local government databases.

Patricia Ann Garrett Bailey

Patricia Ann Garrett Bailey(introduced)

Bailey was found dead Dec. 2 in her apartment in the 1400 block of South 14th Street in Birmingham. She died of natural causes.

According to Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates, police were called to do a welfare check at the request of a concerned employee of the delivery company.

Those who knew Bailey say they don’t know about the family. It is reported that she worked in the hospital of St. Vincent in the early to mid-2000s and listed past addresses in Kennesaw and Marietta, Georgia, and Akron, Ohio.

Jacqueline Golden

Golden was found dead Dec. 4 at her home in the 5500 block of Guerdon Trace in Center Point.

Yates said the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office made the discovery when a concerned neighbor asked them to check on her.

Golden died of natural causes and listed past addresses in Bessemer, Birmingham, Bremen, Cullman and Gardendale.

Richard Stanley Skinner Sr

Richard Stanley Skinner Sr(introduced)

Skinner was found dead Dec. 8 at his home in the 2700 block of 31st Avenue North in Birmingham.

A concerned neighbor discovered Skinner during a welfare check.

Yates said Golden was a military veteran, but little was known about him.

He died of natural causes.
