Former school district employee pleads guilty to crimes involving children

NISKAYUNA, NEW YORK. A Schenectady man has pleaded guilty to serious crimes accusation involving a child, and we now know that he once worked for the Niskayuna Central School District.

Tyreek Blackmon, also known as “Elise,” pleaded guilty to two counts of promoting sexual activity to a child as a sexually motivated crime.

The Schenectady County District Attorney’s Office said Blackmon sent a sexual video and images of a child under the age of 17 to another person through an online dating app in early November last year.

The superintendent of the school district confirmed that the incidents did not occur on the Niskayuna campus and did not involve students in the district. Blackmon, who worked in the district’s operations and maintenance department, was fired in late May.

Blackmon is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 28 and faces seven years in prison on each count, the statutory maximum. In addition, Blackmon will be required to register as a sex offender.
