Man dead after shooting in east Tulsa

TULSA, OKLAHOMA. — Tulsa police are on the scene of an officer-involved shooting in east Tulsa.

It happened in the area of ​​31st and Mingo. Police said they received a call early in the afternoon about a man inside the home with suicidal intentions. They said his son’s school had contacted them about the situation. Police did not know if the son told his school about the situation or how they found out what was going on.

The police contacted the man at home. According to them, the man was confused and shot at the furniture.

Police said the man got out, got into his truck and drove around the neighborhood trying to get police to follow him; when no one followed him, he drove back and returned to the house.

He later went outside brandishing a rifle but returned inside. He came back outside with a gun and pointed it at the officers. Police said two officers then shot at the man and hit him.

Officers at the scene attempted CPR, but the man died from his injuries, police said.

The employees who fired are on administrative leave, which is protocol in these situations.
