A 19-year-old Minneapolis man faces multiple charges in connection with two September shootings within three hours, one of which wounded three teenagers after they left the Minnesota State Fairgrounds on the last night of the season.

Musharraf Zainab Arab was indicted last week on three counts of aiding and abetting attempted murder and two counts of aiding and abetting a drive-by shooting. He was arrested on the charges Friday and was being held Monday in lieu of $2 million bail.

According to the statement about the crime of the officer responded to a call about shots fired near a parking lot in the 1000 block of North Snelling Avenue, south of Wynn Avenue, around 10:20 p.m. on Sept. 2. They found a 17-year-old boy who was wounded in the leg.

The teenager told police that after the fair he was walking with others to his friend’s car when he heard gunshots and realized he had been shot. He hid near the railroad tracks until officers arrived. He said he didn’t know anyone who wanted to harm him.

Two other victims arrived at local hospitals in private vehicles. A 17-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to the calf showed up at Region, and an 18-year-old boy with a neck wound went to Hennepin County Medical Center.

They also told police they had been shot in the parking lot, and they didn’t know why. One said he thought it was fireworks at first until he saw blood running down his neck. Another said he heard 10 gunshots in rapid succession before everyone ran away.

Officers found 53 spent shell casings in three different locations under the Snelling Avenue bridge, just east of the parking lot. Analysis of the shell casings showed that they were fired from three guns.

Surveillance video shows a blue sedan parked under the bridge. Several people got out, and the driver stayed put. The shooters fired at three teenagers from the street, and another fired from a gravel pad near the railroad tracks. The shooters went back inside the sedan and it drove off.

Another surveillance video, which captured the sedan, showed it resembled a blue Volkswagen.

About three hours later, at 1:16 a.m. on Sept. 3, deputies were dispatched to a shooting at a BP gas station in Little Canada, east of Interstate 35E along Little Canada Road.

Surveillance video shows a blue sedan stopped at the intersection of Centerville Road and Little Canada Road. The sedan circled back and disappeared from sight. About two minutes later, shots were fired at four men who were standing near cars at gas stations. The men escaped, apparently unharmed.
