Stabbing suspect arrested after trying to flee police through Kennewick neighborhood

Police arrested a stabbing suspect Monday morning after a chase in east Kennewick.

Jorge Rangel, 22, and another man got into a drunken altercation at a home in the 200 block of East First Avenue, Kennewick Commander Isaac Merkle told the Tri-City Herald.

At one point, Rangel allegedly stabbed another man in the back, Merkle said.

Around 4:50 a.m., the victim was taken to the district hospital, and the medical staff called the police. His injury was not life-threatening.

The police could not find Rangel at first. Then around 10 a.m., police were notified that he had returned to the house. When they arrived, he reportedly tried to run but was caught about a block away.

Rangel was booked into the Benton County Jail for investigation of first-degree assault.
