A woman from New York was accused of practicing unlicensed dentistry in the kitchen of her apartment.

Gladys Serrano, 70, pleaded not guilty to one count of professional misconduct, according to a Dec. 10 news release from the Nassau County District Attorney.

According to a press release, Ms. Serrano allegedly removed five teeth from one person in a one-bedroom apartment in Hempstead, New York. She allegedly received $1,950 in payments for dental services between July 26 and December 4.

A search warrant executed at the residence turned up several items, including a patient chair, dental instruments, empty medication bottles and used dental needles.

If convicted, Ms. Serrano faces up to four years in prison. She is due back in court on January 8.
