A man died after being hit by a car that left the scene, police said

A pedestrian was killed last week in a crash in South Jersey, and as of Monday, police said they were still looking for the driver who left him dead.

According to a statement from the Hammonton Police Department, a 58-year-old man, whose identity has not been released, was hit around 7:20 p.m. on Oct. 25 in Hammonton near the intersection of South White Horse Pike and Lakeview Avenue. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The vehicle last seen leaving the scene was a white 2014 BMW 328, a 4-door sedan with damage to the front end, specifically one of the headlights or fog lights, investigators said. The car was last seen heading east on White Horse Pike.

Anyone with information about the crash or who saw a vehicle matching this description was asked to contact the department.
