The suspect was found guilty at the customs office of attempting to kill a policeman by stabbing him 23 times with scissors.

50-year-old Robert Jenner, nicknamed “The Naked Carpenter”, was convicted of attempted murder Kent Police Constable Sean Quinn.

In June 2023, Jenner stabbed PC Quinn in the head, face and neck, leaving the officer with injuries including a “gaping gash” on his forehead that exposed his skull.

The attack took place at the defendant’s flat in Maidstone. During the hearing, the court was shown footage of the moment Jenner “lashed out” at PC Quinn, who was screaming for help with his face covered in blood.

A jury at Maidstone Crown Court today returned a majority verdict finding Jenner guilty of attempted murder.

He had been released from prison two days before the attack, having been jailed for breaching a court order banning him from wearing transparent clothing.

Jenner believes he is a naturist and has 11 convictions for exposure and two violations of court orders, jurors were told.

On June 15, 2023, Constables Quinn and Ashley Bates went to Jenner’s home to arrest him after they suspected him of approaching a report of a man running around naked in a local park, “climbing in and out of the bushes, exposing himself in the eyes of women”.

When they arrived, an “aggressive” and “completely naked” Jenner had barricaded himself in his apartment and police decided to force their way in, the court heard.

Once inside, PC Quinn followed Jenner into his kitchen-living room. A door closed behind the pair and PC Bates heard a “cry of pain”.

When she walked into the room, “her colleague’s head was covered in blood and there was a pool of blood behind his head, it was horrible,” she said.

When Jenner was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, he asked PC Quinn if everything was OK and said: “I didn’t mean to do it.”

“B*** mate, I didn’t want this to happen, I didn’t want it to come to this,” he added.

PC Quinn was taken to King’s College Hospital in London, where he underwent surgery before being discharged the next day.

After the sentencing, Chief Superintendent Neil Loudon said the attack “resulted in the worst injuries to a police officer I have ever seen”.

“It’s just pure coincidence that none of these injuries turned out to be fatal,” he added.

Jenner did not appear in court or testify. He will be sentenced later.
