Tye Sheridan on a potential return as Cyclops in the MCU; “There are always more stories to tell”

Tye Sheridan has joined 20th Century Fox X-Men franchise as Scott Summers, aka Cyclops, along with several other young actors X-Men: Apocalypse before going on to reprise his role in what would be the final film of the much-maligned Fox era Dark Phoenix.

The original plan was for Sheridan, along with the likes of Sophie Turner (Jean Grey), Alexandra Shipp (Storm) and Cody Smith-McPhee (Nightcrawler), to lead the franchise that would evolve as a modern take on the team, but that all changed when Disney acquired Fox assets in 2019.

Although we did see a few familiar faces from a bygone era – Patrick Stewart Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of MadnessKelsey Grammer c The Marvelsand Hugh Jackman in Deadpool and Wolverine – will appear in the MCU, it is highly unlikely that any of the younger actors who were introduced in the Apocalypse will return as these characters will almost certainly be recast.

Despite this, Sheridan has not completely ruled out the possibility of dressing up as Cyclops again.

“I don’t know”, Order says the star Screen Rant. “I don’t think there’s any question that more stories can be told. I think there are always more stories to tell. The question is whether the audience has an appetite for these stories and whether we feel that these types of films are oversaturated or not, is there a new way to make these films, but yes, I’m not sure.”

Again, we don’t see Marvel Studios delivering Dark Phoenix to drop, but we still don’t know exactly what the plan is for the long-awaited X-Men reboot.

During a recent interview with Discussion of the filmFeige was asked how it feels to know that “we’re getting closer to seeing the X-Men and the Avengers together on the big screen.”

“It’s incredibly emotional, on a personal level, to make a movie with Hugh after 25 years, and I was a small part of that first X-Men movie. And knowing that thanks to various deals with corporate studios, we now have 1,000 characters back—characters that I honestly hadn’t thought about in years because we didn’t have the rights to them, it’s really fun to think about (who we we can finally). Our X-Men 97 animated series was kind of like people’s first introduction to the X-Men mythology, and that story made us even more excited about how to create a soap opera and a mutant saga for the MCU.”

A director is not attached, but we do know that Michael Lessley was involved in writing the script.
