Debris from the 2012 Nissan Altima was strewn across the road, and the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Accident Investigation Unit was able to track down Fabian Lucas using an automatic license plate reader. Law enforcement learned that within days of the fatal crash, the defendant planned to take the vehicle to American Recycling on Route 50 in Mays Landing to dispose of the vehicle after the vehicle’s VIN numbers were obliterated and various parts damaged.

Lucas was eventually arrested and taken into custody in April 2023.
