The search is on for an armed and dangerous suspect in a Jefferson Street murder

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVE) — Portsmouth police are still looking for a second suspect in an Oct. 20 shooting that left a 44-year-old man dead.

Jamel Raekwon Jones, 27, is wanted for first-degree murder, discharge of a firearm from a vehicle, malicious wounding, shooting across a roadway, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and discharge of a firearm in a public place.

Police say Jones is considered armed and dangerous.

On Sunday, Oct. 20, Portsmouth Police responded to a report of a shooting in the 2300 block of Jefferson Street around 5:30 p.m. Upon arrival, police found the victim with a gunshot wound and transported him to a local hospital for treatment. .

Two other men involved in the incident were treated at a local hospital as walk-ins. One of the victims, 44-year-old Danielle Akoya Lee, died from her injuries, police said.

On Tuesday, police announced the arrest of 19-year-old Torian Jamari Sexton in connection with the shooting and murder. Sexton was charged with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of aggravated malicious wounding and other firearms-related charges.
