4 dead, 3 injured in weekend shooting in Akron, including 2 at Halloween parties

Local law enforcement agencies are investigating multiple shootings that took place over the weekend that left four people dead, including two at separate Halloween parties on Saturday and Sunday. Three other people were also injured.

The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office released the identities of the two homicide victims Monday. The other two victims will reportedly be identified after family has been notified and pending an investigation.

25-year-old East Akron shooting victim identified

Neiko Susi, a 25-year-old man, was identified as the murder victim was found shot at his apartment near East Akron on Friday night.

Officers arrived in the 1100 block of Keys Place after hearing reports of a shooting at about 10:25 p.m., and found Soucy in a nearby apartment.

Officers canvassed the area and found two unoccupied vehicles and a residence struck by two bullets. A 20-year-old woman was arrested and charged with obstructing and disorderly conduct during an emergency after she interfered with first responders and medical personnel.

The incident is still under investigation.

The victim of the Paris Avenue shooting has been identified

Lasha Ellis, an 18-year-old woman from Akron, was identified as a homicide victim in a shooting at a Halloween party in Summit Lake on Saturday.

Ellis attended a party in the 100 block of Paris Avenue, where she was found shot to death by Akron police officers at approximately 10:46 p.m. She was taken to Cleveland Clinic Akron General, where she was later pronounced dead.

A 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl were also injured, but their injuries are not life-threatening.

Police officers apprehended an 18-year-old man after a short foot chase and recovered a handgun he discarded while fleeing from authorities. The man was later charged with carrying a concealed weapon and obstructing official business.

Police are still trying to determine what role he may have played in Ellis’ death.

The victim of the Springfield shooting has not yet been identified

Springfield police and the medical examiner are investigating the death of a 39-year-old man who visited Halloween Party in Springfield Township on Sunday.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 1400 block of Canton Road shortly after midnight, where a man was found with an apparent gunshot wound. He was taken to Akron City Hospital, where he later died.

Another victim was hospitalized after being attacked during a party on Canton Road.

Authorities investigating a fourth homicide made the discovery Sunday night

Authorities are investigating the death of a 44-year-old woman who was found in Summit Lake late Sunday night.

Officers initially responded to a report of an unknown emergency in the 300 block of East South Street at approximately 11:52 p.m. Officers performed CPR on the woman after finding her body unconscious with apparent gunshot wounds, and she was pronounced dead at the scene at 12 p.m.: 8 p.m. Monday.

After inspecting the area, officers found shell casings nearby and discovered that a parked vehicle had been hit at least once.

Investigators are establishing the exact circumstances of the woman’s death, as well as establishing the identity of the shooter.
