Atlanta police are searching for a driver involved in a fatal crash on Ponce de Leon Avenue Sunday night.

Investigators say the fatal crash happened in the 400 block of Mary Mac’s Teahouse shortly after 7:45 p.m.

Law enforcement officers who arrived at the scene found a woman who had been hit by a car. The driver was nowhere to be seen.

A witness told FOX 5 that he saw medics trying to resuscitate the victim, but she did not survive her injuries.

According to Atlanta police, the vehicle involved in the crash was a gold Jeep.

Authorities have not released the identity of either the victim or possible suspects.

Investigators closed Ponce de Leon Avenue overnight while they examined the scene for evidence. The road has since been reopened.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the hit-and-run to contact the Atlanta Police Department.
