‘Morning Joe’ airs same creepy clip of Trump picking FBI Kesh Patel 3 times in a row

MSNBC Good morning Joe The crew on Monday reacted with horror Donald Trumpdecision to choose Kesh Patel will head the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The selection of Patel, a lawyer who held several posts in the president-elect’s first administration, drew a firestorm of criticism in part because of his promotion of conspiracy theories and calls for retribution against Trump’s second-term opponents. To emphasize that Good morning Joe co-host Joe Scarborough repeatedly asked to play a clip on his show Monday in which Patel spoke of his intention to “go after” Trump’s enemies.

“We have to put all-American patriots from top to bottom,” Patel says in footage taken from 2023 interview with Steve Bannonformer Trump adviser. Later, Patel adds, “We will go out and find the conspirators not only in the government but also in the media. Yes, we will go after people in the media who lied about American citizens who helped Joe Biden rig the presidential election.”

“We’ll come for you,” Patel continues. “Whether it’s criminal or civil, we’ll figure it out. But yes, we will notify you all.”

After the footage first aired on Good morning Joeco-host Mika Brzezinski attempted to introduce a guest for reaction when Scarborough interrupted.

“Wait a second,” he said. “Could you play that again? Can we CC the Republican Senators?” Hey Mitch McConnell and Chuck Grassley. Let’s see… Mike Rounds is a great patriot deeply concerned about this. He said almost exactly that. Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, who certainly opposed the brutal election of Matt Goetz (attorney general). We want to play this game again.”

After replaying the clip, Scarborough asked to have it aired again.

“I’d also like to play it again for all those Wall Street billionaires who are like, ‘Oh, come on, come on. It’s just about the tax people, he’s not going to bring in the people who are chasing,” Scarborough said, adding that he also wanted to play it again for “the Trump apologists who said, ‘Oh, oh, Cash Patel will never get put in this position”.

He went on to say that he would not advise senators to “unequivocally vote against anyone that Donald Trump nominates” for his new administration, saying that Marco Rubio, Trump’s nominee for secretary of state, is someone who “knows the issues, who works with people from both parties who can become an effective Secretary of State.”

“It’s the same with the director of the Treasury,” Scarborough said, referring to Scott Bessent, the hedge fund veteran Trump picked to be Treasury secretary. “But not that. Play again.”

After the third showing of the clip, Scarborough said that Patel’s choice would be bad for everyone.

“It’s not just bad for the men and women who run the FBI,” he said. “This is bad not only for the rule of law. This isn’t just bad for the First Amendment. This is bad not only for the United States of America. This is bad for Donald Trump. This is bad for the Trump administration.”

“It’s not going to end well,” Scarborough continued. “So I think the best case scenario for everybody is that Kesh Patel — and this talk of Kesh Patel — ends up like the Matt Goetz nomination ended, because that’s not going to work out for anybody.”

After being selected as Trump’s attorney general, Goetz eventually withdrew from the post amid relentless scrutiny over allegations of wrongdoing, including sex with minors and drug use, which Goetz has consistently denied. Reports claimed Goetz left after that Trump talked to him about concerns that they would not get the Senate votes needed to confirm him as CEO.

“I still believe there will be four Republican senators who won’t vote to confirm someone who says he’s going to throw judges in jail,” Scarborough said of Patel. “He is going to put bureaucrats in prison. He’s going to throw reporters in jail who don’t support the 2020 Stop Theft conspiracy theory.

Scarborough and Brzezinski, who have recently been vocal critics of Trump since his first administration faced with their own rebellion during a meeting with Trump at Mar-a-Lago. They said the purpose of the personal visit was to “restore communication” with the newly elected president.

The Good morning Joe a video of Patel’s interview with Bannon in 2023 did not include the part of the conversation in which Bannon said, “I want Good morning Joe producers watching us and all producers watching us is just not rhetoric. We are absolutely serious.”
