FRA to take action on concerns raised by Council – FBC News

The Fiji Highways Authority says it intends to address concerns about the deteriorating state of road infrastructure raised by the Savusavu City Council.

This covers a variety of issues, from faded crosswalk signs and damaged street lights to worn sidewalks and roads.

In an interview with FBC News, Savusavu City Council Chairman Shiu Shankar Singh emphasized that the authorities are not taking action on a significant number of problems that remain unresolved in Savusavu City.

The article continues after the announcement

“Despite the fact that they had many phone calls and after phone calls, we wrote them a letter on October 28. No answer until today. When we called them, they said that we need to look for a job number. What about this accident? Did something happen? So, it is impure that they are scary. Even though many communities write in our Council Viper Group, Business Group and all that.’

Singh says the long-standing problems are causing inconvenience to residents, despite repeated requests to resolve the problem, which has been going on for months, with little action taken by the authorities.

The Fiji Roads Authority says it is undertaking several critical upgrades as part of its ongoing efforts to improve the rural and urban road network in Savusavu and other areas of the Northern Division.

This includes the construction of footpaths along Buka Bay Road, asphalt paving along Lesyacheva Road, ongoing sealing works, as well as the implementation of coastal protection measures, ensuring the long-term stability of the road infrastructure.

The Fiji Roads Authority says it is actively working with individuals and organizations to ensure road infrastructure is improved to meet the needs of travelers and residents of Hidden Paradise.
