Married man arrested for molesting college student in Surat |

Surat: A 20-year-old married man was arrested on Sunday for allegedly molesting a 19-year-old female college student living in the same society in Jahangirpur area of ​​the city. A college student filed a police report accusing the man of sexual harassment and criminal intimidation.
Earlier, society members had ‘expelled’ a man from the society during Navratri in October for allegedly molesting a college girl. Then the meeting of the society gathered, and it was agreed that the accused would leave the society.
To avoid the complaint, the accused moved to another place. However, a few days ago he returned to society and on Saturday inappropriately looked at the victim, after which she again complained to society. When members of the society objected to his presence at the meeting on Saturday, he threatened to commit suicide by naming the victim and members of the society if he was not allowed to remain in the society. The police were then called and a formal sexual harassment complaint was lodged with the Jahangirpura police.
DG Rabari, Superintendent of Police, Jahangirpura, told TOI, “We have booked the accused for sexually harassing, using criminal force on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty and criminal intimidation. He was arrested.”
According to details, when the victim was playing Garba in her community in Jahangirpur on the third day of Navratri (October 5), the accused called her on the pretext of opening the door of his apartment. He told her that his wife had a traffic jam and he was stuck in the house. The victim approached, opened the door and went to her apartment. At that time, the accused called her again on the pretext of internet problems on his mobile and allegedly groped her. Soon she called her friend and informed the public about the event.
