An elderly man was fatally shot by a neighbor after complaining about loud music on Thanksgiving Day

In Florida, an elderly man was killed after allegedly arguing over music with a neighbor thanksgiving day .

According to a press release from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, a man named Hurelion McLean was shot and killed by his neighbor, who was taken into custody by police. Law enforcement arrived at the scene in Lake Lauderdale on Nov. 28, Thanksgiving, around 3:30 p.m. and found McLean suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

McLean’s wife Rose McLean said about it news publications that her family was celebrating a holiday when a neighbor came to their apartment to complain about the loud music. The neighbor lived one floor below, and Hureleyon went to meet with the neighbor to discuss the matter, but Rose claimed to have heard the gunshot.

“He went over to ring the doorbell and leave a message,” Rose said. “He was just standing there looking at me with his gun in his hand. And I go up to him and say, ‘Why did you shoot my husband? Why?” And he told me if I don’t shut my mouth, he will shoot me too.”

The investigation is still ongoing, but police said the neighbor was cooperative and claimed he shot McLean in self-defense. Police also said the Broward County District Attorney’s Office will decide whether to pursue criminal charges against the neighbor.
