Tension gripped the Adarsh Nagar area of Nayagaon after torn pages of the “gutka” (Sikh religious book) were found strewn on the streets around 10:30 am on Sunday.

A heavy police deployment was made in the area and teams of Nayagaon, CIA, Mohali police along with senior police officers including ASP Jayant Puri and administration officials reached the spot.

The police officer said that a resident noticed the “gutka” pages and informed the police. The law enforcement officers checked the recordings from the video surveillance cameras installed near the scene of the incident, but so far they have not found anything.

Police are now scanning CCTV footage from other streets to find the suspect.

An FIR under Sections 299 (intentional and malicious acts intended to offend religious sentiments of any class by insulting their religion or religious beliefs) of BNS was registered against unidentified accused at Nayagaon police station.
