Postal workers union files unfair labor practice complaint over Canada Post layoffs – CP24

OTTAWA. The union representing Canada Post workers has filed an unfair labor practice complaint with the Canada Industrial Relations Board over the firing of striking workers.

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers says the layoffs are “intimidation tactics” that violate the Canada Labor Code.

No details were provided on the extent of the layoffs, which Canada Post described as temporary.

Canada Post spokeswoman Lisa Liu said the Crown corporation has received the complaint and is looking into it.

Liu says Canada Post denies any labor code violations.

A strike by more than 55,000 Canada Post workers over wages and working conditions has reached two weeks.
