Reading police said authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver who hit a police officer Saturday night.

The department said an officer was conducting a routine traffic stop around 7:29 p.m. near 326 Lowell Street at Willow Street. Police said the pickup truck’s side view mirror struck the officer in the elbow. The car was traveling east on Lowell Street and turned south on Willow Street, police said.

The officer was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, the report said. Reading police said the pickup truck is red, with a black rear bumper and a light stripe on the tailgate. Authorities urge residents to check their video cameras or video calls for video of the incident.

Reading police said anyone with information should contact them at 781-944-1212.
