Police are looking for two teenagers after a 15-year-old boy was seriously injured in knife attack on a busy bus in Merseyside.

Officers were called to reports that two teenagers boarded a Stagecoach bus in Walton Hall Road at around 5.35pm yesterday and a fight broke out between them and the boy.

The three then ran off the bus, and the boy was found nearby with stab wounds to his back.

Police are looking for two other men, described as “teenagers dressed in all black” with “faces covered”.

Detective Chief Inspector Lynsay Armbruster said: “This was a shocking incident which has left a teenager in hospital with serious injuries.

“The incident started with an argument on the bus involving three men. They all later exited the bus and police were soon able to find the victim nearby with serious stab wounds to the back.

“The public will be rightly concerned about this incident, but please be assured that we take this extremely seriously and are determined to find the two men involved.

“The bus would be occupied by other passengers who would also be alarmed to see what happened. If you saw anything or have any information about this incident, please get in touch.

“Also, if you live in the area or were passing by at the time and saw what happened before or after the altercation on the bus, please get in touch.”

DCI Armbruster said there was no place for knives in the community.

“The use of knives is reckless and unacceptable and can have tragic consequences not only for the victim and their family, but also for the offenders involved,” she said.

“I would encourage people to educate themselves and talk to their children and family members about the dangers of knife crime.”
