Floods: housewife asks to save her husband, sons stuck on the roof in Pasir Mas

KOTA BHARU: A Kampung Meranti housewife, Pasir Mas, took to social media in a desperate search for immediate rescue for her husband and two sons, who have been stuck on the roof of their house since Friday evening (Nov 29) due to flooding.

Fazlinda Mohd Sallah, 38, said her husband, Rijal Asmawi, 42, and their two sons, Muhammad Faiz, 15, and Muhammad Fitri, 12, were stuck on the roof after returning home on Friday to move their belongings to a height

The mother of four said that despite reaching out to various security agencies, including the Fire and Rescue Service and the Civil Defense Force, as well as non-governmental organisations, she has yet to receive any new information from her husband.

“The last time I spoke to them was around 2am yesterday and they told me that they had to take shelter on the roof as the water suddenly rose to a dangerous level. Now I can only pray that they are all safe,” she told Bernama on Saturday (Nov 30).

Earlier, Fazlinda’s plea for help on Facebook, calling on the public to help rescue her husband and children trapped on a rooftop in Kampung Merant, went viral on social media.

Nearly 1,500 Facebook users shared the post, expressing their sympathy for the situation and helping to spread the message.

According to Fazlinda, she was separated from her husband and two sons after he asked her and their two younger children, 5-year-old Muhammed Fahim and Fazana Balkis, to seek shelter at a relief center in Sekolah Kebangsaan (Skawchan) Bayu Lalang.

“I can’t stop thinking about the three of them. The last time I spoke to my husband, he said they were cold, hungry, and had small wounds on their arms from being on the roof for so long.

“I’m hoping that someone with a boat will come along to help save my husband and two children as I’m very worried that something bad might happen to them,” she said. – Bernama
