In a tragic incident on Thanksgiving Day, three teenagers were killed in a Tesla Cybertruck crash in Piedmont, California, near Oakland. The accident happened around three o’clock in the morning on Wednesday, when a group of old friends were returning home from an event. Authorities have identified speeding as a potential cause of the crash, although the investigation is ongoing.

Details of the accident and rescue operations

The Tesla Cybertruck reportedly jumped a curb, crashed into a tree and burst into flames. One of the passengers, identified as Jordan Miller, survived the crash and was rescued by a friend in a separate vehicle behind them. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) impounded the vehicle to check it for possible mechanical issues as part of the investigation.

Persons of the victim

The victims were identified as Jack Nelson, Soren Dixon and Krista Tsukahara, all 19-year-old college sophomores who had been close friends since high school and graduated in 2023. Nelson was a student at the University of Colorado, Dixon attended the University of Southern California (USC), and Tsukahara attended the Savannah College of Art and Design.

The CHP is investigating whether speed played a role in the crash. In addition, the relatively new Tesla Cybertruck model is thoroughly inspected for any possible defects or malfunctions that could have caused the accident.

The incident reignited the debate about vehicle safety and responsible driving, especially late at night.

The Thanksgiving tragedy serves as a grim reminder of the importance of road safety. While the investigation continues, the community is coming together to support the families of the victims and reflect on the precious lives lost.
