Ludhiana: Attack on family in Lohar, 8 arrested

The complainant said that Mintu of Gill Colony in Lohar, Ludhiana passed comments about his sister who is married; when his sister informed him of this, he went to Mintu’s house with his mother and other relatives to discuss the matter

A New Sundar Nagar family was attacked by a neighbor, his wife, son and aides, allegedly for objecting to comments made by a woman’s family member. The Dubai police have opened a criminal case against eight people. The accused have been identified as Minta of Gill Colony in Lohar, his wife Krishna, son Ankit and assistant Amandeep Singh of New Lohar Colony. Four of their assistants have not yet been identified.

ASI Harbhol Singh, who is investigating the case, said that the FIR under sections 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt to another person), 191(3) (riot, possession of deadly weapon), 190 (if the offense is committed by a member of an unlawful assembly, then every member of the assembly is guilty of this offence) and 351(2) (Criminal intimidation) BNS filed against the accused. The complainant said that Mintu had been passing comments about his sister, who is married. When his sister informed him about this, he along with his mother and other relatives went to Mintu’s house to discuss the matter.

The applicant added that after some time the accused broke into his house and attacked him, his sister and her husband with sharp weapons. The accused also damaged a scooter parked in the house before fleeing.
