In Maviletta, two members of the National Assembly were arrested for intimidation

Two men from Digby County, Nova Scotia have been charged in connection with an incident at a home in Mavilletta, New Zealand.


Methegan RCMP responded to a verbal dispute between three people outside a home on Boudreaux Road around 3:15 p.m., Wednesday.

According to the results of the investigation, the police reported that two men approached another man and threatened him. No weapon was visible. according to the RCMP.

Police arrested Eric David Thibault, 65, and Zachary David Thibault, 32, both of Little Brook, New Zealand, at about 9:45 a.m. the next day.

Both men were charged with intimidation in connection with the incident.

The men remain in custody and are due to appear in Yarmouth Provincial Court on Friday.

Police say Zachary Thibault is also facing the following charges as part of the ongoing investigation:

  • making threats
  • two counts of intimidation
  • extortion
  • criminal prosecution
  • failure to comply with a probation order
