AJ Brown loves tent fights more than anyone.

That’s why Eagles star wide receiver will follow his counterpart with Cincinnati Bengals in Ja’Marr Chase when the Eagles and Bengals face each other Sunday at 1 p.m.

Chase enters the weekend as the NFL’s leading receiver with 620 yards in 7 games. Brown would be at the top of this list if he hadn’t missed three games with a hamstring injury. Brown has 324 yards in three games, averaging 108 yards per game. Chase is averaging 88.6 yards per game.

“Ja’Marr is incredible,” Brown said. “He’s definitely one of the best players in the game right now. Some of the things he does, only he can do. I’ll definitely be watching to see little things I can learn from him. I’m going to watch.”

Brown, however, said he’s not excited about the matchup or over Chase, who was the Bengals’ 2021 first-round pick with the No. 5 overall pick.

“Early in my career, it (motivated me),” Brown said. “But not where I am now.”

In addition, both Brown and Chase have assistants who can easily steal the spotlight. In the 2021 draft, the Eagles made five picks after Chase, his friend, wide receiver DeVonta Smith (301 yards). The Bengals drafted Tee Higgins (324 yards) in the second round in 2020.

Higgins is listed as questionable for the game with a quad injury.

Chase, meanwhile, topped 1,000 yards in each of his three seasons, with a career high of 1,455 as a rookie. Brown had 1,496 and 1,456 yards in his first two seasons with the Eagles. Before that, Brown had at least 1,000 receiving yards in two of his three seasons with the Tennessee Titans.

Both have top QBs in Jalen Hurts of the Eagles and Joe Burrow of the Bengals.

And the two QBs have a backstory as well. Burrow won the Heisman in 2019, leading LSU to the national title, and Chase was one of his receivers. Hurts finished second in the Heisman voting while leading Oklahoma to the national semifinals.

That’s where the Sooners lost to LSU 63-28. In that game, Burrow threw for 493 yards and 7 touchdowns.

Burrow was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 draft. Meanwhile, the Eagles took Hurts in the second round, No. 53 overall.

The Eagles and Bengals met when Hurts and Burrow were rookies, with the two teams tied 23-23. But while Burrow threw for 312 yards that day, Hurts was Carson Wentz’s backup, serving mostly as the Gadgets’ early-season QB. Hearts carried the ball twice for 5 yards.

Both QBs led their teams to the Super Bowl, the Bengals lost to the Rams to end the 2021 season and the Eagles lost to the Chiefs to end the 2022 season.

However, Harts was not in a reminiscing mood when asked if he knew Burrow in high school or college.

“We crossed paths in college,” Hurts said.

He was then asked what it was like going through the Heisman process with Burrow.

“I got to hang out with all the guys and I think it was a fun, overall experience,” he said. “Obviously, I have a lot of respect for him.”

Hurts said they haven’t spoken since. That will change on Sunday.
